Optimaana is officially coming to PS4 and Xbox One!

Isn’t that neat-o?

The console versions will be launched simultaneously with the Steam version for PC, Mac and Linux. The release date will be this summer, 2017.

How is this all happening?

Awhile ago, I took a look at how much work it would be to port Optimaana to consoles. Because both PS4 and Xbox One have different hardware, APIs, rules, stores, approval processes, and more, it basically would take someone at least six months of dedicated work per platform, and that is being optimistic. It simply is not feasible for a one-man team to simultaneously launch Steam alongside consoles.

Double Eleven

That’s where the awesome team at Double Eleven enters our story.

Double Eleven is famous for bringing Prison Architect, Goat Simulator, Limbo, PixelJunk and others to consoles. And they are the ones bringing you Optimaana for Xbox One and PS4!

They are also helping out with design, playtesting, booths at events like GDC and PAX East, PR, marketing, development of the console versions and more. As believers in Optimaana they have also funded me to spend more time on the game itself allowing me to do some new / cool / extra stuff beyond what I originally thought possible.

Basically, I’m a really lucky developer! Bringing a game like this to consoles is no easy task. I’m glad Double Eleven chose Optimaana. I can focus entirely on making it the dopest game I can possibly create.

And you guys get to play Optimaana on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One this summer!

That’s all for now. Cheers,

Nathanael
